Hey everyone, hope all is well.  I started to clean off my desk from my recent Ustream class for Gone Artsy, and got sidetracked when I spotted a Artist Trading Block (ATB), I said self, we can’t have a nekkid block, so I set about to change that using my gorgeous Gone Artsy supplies.  Owner Deb Ochs-Lagrone, has some really gorgeous lace, trims, bling, papers, glitters, and a WHOLE lot more.

I have created a Vintage Style Junk Journal from a pancake mix box.  Unfortunately I made a mistake when I was loading the slideshow and the construction of the journal cover is a video of its own.  I have included the link to it in the video for the construction and decorating of my journal.

Please note: Paint and polyurethane are from my stash.   I applied 3 coats of the polyurethane (letting it dry thoroughly between coats) since it does sit outside.

DT Project Gone Artsy, Altered Sign

I started the project by cutting, distressing and inking the gorgeous cardstock (Maja Design 12×12 “Vintage Summer Basics Collection” 1922 – GA659 https://www.zibbet.com/goneartsy/maja-design-12×12-vintage-summer-basics-collection-1922-ga659 for the base of the sign as well as a backing piece for the sign I printed from my computer.  Once I finished this I then used a matte gel medium to adhere the paper on the wood sign.  I then took 2 pieces of Pearl White Medallion Venice Lace – GA697 https://www.zibbet.com/goneartsy/pearl-white-medallion-venice-lace-ga697 to each of the upper corners, then added leaves May Arts Ribbon Green Leaf Trim (GA362) https://www.zibbet.com/goneartsy/may-arts-ribbon-green-leaf-trim to both sides. Next I used hot glue to adhere the informational sign.  I cut out 2 of the flowers from Flower Bunting Venice Dangle Lace – GA543 https://www.zibbet.com/goneartsy/flower-bunting-venice-dangle-lace-ga543 and adhered to each corner of sign.  I added the beautiful trim ABS Pearl and Rhinestone Teardrop Trim – GA353 https://www.zibbet.com/goneartsy/abs-pearl-and-rhinestone-teardrop-trim-ga353 to the bottom of the sign, followed by Flower Bunting Venice Dangle Lace – GA543 https://www.zibbet.com/goneartsy/flower-bunting-venice-dangle-lace-ga543 to the top and bottom of the sign.  I added flat back pearls from my stash to the centers of the GA-543 trim.  Using both Real Feel 1.5″ Soft Foam White Roses Set of 12 (GA379) https://www.zibbet.com/goneartsy/real-feel-1-5-soft-foam-white-roses-ga379 Real Feel 1.5″ Soft Foam Pink Roses Set of 12 – GA380 https://www.zibbet.com/goneartsy/real-feel-1-5-soft-foam-pink-roses-ga380 I made my flower cluster and added some leaves from my stash.  I then cut 2 pieces of Pink Faux Pearl Garland Trim (GA302) https://www.zibbet.com/goneartsy/pink-faux-pearl-garland-trim-ga302 faux pearl garland trim pink and stuck them into the flower cluster followed by gorgeous Bling Piece 22mm Pearl and Rhinestone Oval Cabochon (GA109) https://www.zibbet.com/goneartsy/22mm-pearl-and-rhinestone-oval-cabochon-ga109 . I attached a piece of seam binding to the back as a hanger, and used a bow jig to make a seam binding bow as well, and as a finishing touch I used some of the Signature Make Mine Pink Glass Glitter Medley – GA647 https://www.zibbet.com/goneartsy/signature-make-mine-pink-glass-glitter-medley-ga647 to add to center of my seam binding bow.

Instructions:

I started by painting the edges of the entire box.  While that was drying I measured, cut, distressed and inked all the papers (this paper line is gorgeous). Once the paint was dry, I used a gel matte medium to adhere all the papers.  For something different on the upper right corner of the top, I put a small piece of cardstock down then rolled the corner of the top paper around a paintbrush.  Once the matte medium dried, I began using hot glue and Art Glitter glue to adhere 2 layers of trim around the mirror inside, one layer around the inside of each cubbie, and around the top of the jewelry box.  For the outside corners I finagled the corners to resemble an ascot sort of.  All of the laces are from the Martha Steward package from J&S Hobbies and Crafts.  I then added flat back pearl trim, and flower clusters.  I snipped one end of the Resin Oval Frame (so it would fit) adhered and image from my stash and made a cereal box shim so the frame would sit even on the box.  For finishing touches I added a butterfly inside and outside then coated all flowers and butterflies with several coats of Glitter Clear Wink of Stella.
